Firelap 2.0 Mclaren Red and Silver
Got my Firelap Mclaren in the mail today!
The bodies are strictly body and body plate. No wheels and no dummy chassis. I noticed the body is a fully molded clearbody. The outside is painted and clear coated. The windows including the headlights are clear. The horizontal slots in the rear are actually open. The body fits well and seemed to only fit using the body clip that came with it. The mclaren f1 LM body clip sits deeper in the front hole and is thicker and won't fit in the mclaren gtr front slot. The antenna hole sits a lot farther back on the rear windshield than the LM's. The side mirrors felt like a harder plastic than the LMs as well. To me the silver looks way better up close than the red. Of course with the pics I took the silver had the shiny alloys. A wing would look really good on this car and for me the red will be the race body while the silver will be a shelf queen.

Nice, I think they both go well with black wheels. MM setup right?

Very, very nice. I gonna go with buying a silver model. I guess I'm gonna get myself some alloy chrome wheels too, makes the car stand out alot more.

Nice. Extra cool spoiler on the Gulf.
Quick aside if I may, could you tell me what type of wheels those alloys are and where they are available? I’m finding it impossible to get the wheels I want in the correct style, color, and offset. Specifically a style like those silvers, in gun metal, McLaren offset (0,0). (Those Y-Spokes are pretty nice too).

@Ronin- Yes it is a MM. The Black wheels are NSX wheels with a "0" offset. I pulled them off my Team z46 BMW gtr. They look awesome. Next will be a spoiler in black to round off the race setup.
@arch2b-The street version was my first love! The LM is Just another way of Mclaren telling me it loves me back . Really though the street version has more smooth curves. With a little more work I'm sure it will be quite a contender. I installed the multi length friction damper on the GULF. Should have some reviews by next week when I get the track setup at the new place. The wing is from the 350z white body "failed" paint project. I forgot I had it left over then detailed it and installed it.
@Goku-Those are my favorite wheels. I have both Kyosho series, silver and Gunmetal and both sets are on Mclarens.
@Dusty Weasle-The wheels on my gulf are Kyosho wheels. You can see them here on my OW Mclaren and here is the gallery of some of the wheels I own. They are NSX 12 spoke alloy wheels in a "0" offset ~$20-$30 a set. The gunmetals on the OW Mcl are shelf queens along with the car. It runs too!

Byebye, how do you like the Iwaver Mclaren compare with Kyosho Mclaren handling wise? What do you notice different if any?

I can't give a review as of yet. I don't have my track setup. This weekend I will test and write one up. I did run it on the floor here and it feels about the same. Very twitchy and agile. With the right tires I'm sure it will do well. I am going to make a custom aluminum wing this weekend as well. I will also give a review of that installed.

I have both the Kyosho body and the Toy>.east one. Anyway, the TE one is very light. So much so that I added a EGR wing to the rear. Once that was done, the car was very stable. I find that the TE body handles well and the car seems more stable. Mind you that body chassis that I use are MR-15, which may have something to do with it. I like the body so much that I ordered the yellow and dark gray one as well. I needed something cheap, so it fit the bill. The kyosho is reserved for my best car. As far as detail goes, the TE is not as good as the K one. Also, the windows are part of the body, whereas on the K body the windows can be popped out for more cooling (especially in hot summer weather). Also, the light areas are simply clear with no insert underneath. I just took a black marker to colour it in to look like smoked headlight covers or something and the small turn indicator lights (and running lights) are painted whereas the K body it is real clear plastic over paint, which looks so much more realistic.
It is what it is. I use it for racing as it is a good strong hack body.
Good luck.

it's been posted before and it's ugly as hell to me. It's a body I was really hoping they would make but not by iwaver. Once you've seen the real thing in person it's hard to look at anything trying to replicate it. I took these at Laguna Seca in Monterey, CA. The cars looked nice too!

I do not agree The previous pics came from the official IW site and were indeed ugly. On this image everything looks a lot better now. Put some alu wheels under it and it will look FAT. My idea is more to make a race car of it, in yellow with Shell sposorship for example...
Oh yeah, I saw the GT version in real life a few weeks ago, it's hot too!
