Understand on the AWOL. Happens to all of us now and then. Looks like ill have to pm Felix or find a local slot car track with hardcore enthusiasts so I can learn more about hand wound motors and double wound. I wanna make or buy a hand wound 70t so it is most efficient.
Been reading these threads and on this forum a few months now just trying to educate myself as much as I can.
Was into nitro 1/10 scale then got into electric when brushless was more popular and now into mini z with brushed motors. Feels like I'm all over the place but I'm staying more around the mini z now. Also messing around with my 4 year olds slot cars so this will be very educating and fun.

As a heads up, for fun go and ahead and go for it. For Chicago racing, they'll likely be disallowed. The rules are typically following Mini-z world series and HFAY which isn't just any 70t motor, but PN 70t bushing motors. About a year ago we had a batch of blue-printed reflex 70t motors being used by a few racers and it just wasn't fair.
In fact one racer has backed off using the com-truer on request as he was getting a serious advantage at times.
This is for all fun while practicing/racing during the week with the crew. HFAY races will just run a 70t out if the package and just break it in before races.
I don't know for sure as I've been out of the Mini-Z scene since ~2005, but I'd assume 'Reflex' is the brand of that particular motor and 'blue printed' means it was built to a very exacting, and likely high performance, standard that normal motors of that brand aren't built to.

if i recall, the blueprinted motor came with a spec sheet. maybe it was run on a motor tester of some brand or another but the concept was, much less variation in production, better quality build. never had one though.
Very nice and thorough with plenty of pics and illustrations. I like it. Ok, I'm a believer now, with as much of a science as this guy made it, who couldn't believe that he got some improved performance from the motor? Gosh I wish I had that kind of time and equipment...

I'd be interested in seeing the test results. Is it just the typical 'stall torque/current' and 'no load speed/current'? Testers that an give you dynamic data seem to be hard to come by.
