Mini-z F1 boats...

I read all the threads, and was wondering if anyone has picked these up, I am about to buy one of each, and race them at my duck pond right by my house... I am looking at the energizer 2500 mah nimh to use for the transmitters and charger... being the guy I am buying the boats from (rl on e b a y) wanted $19 for FOUR sanyo 2500's I figured the energizers would be a MUCH better deal... especially nedding 32 batteries for two boats!!! I also can't wait for upgrades to come out... props and a motor so far...
thoughts/ideas??? anyone got any pics of thiers etc??? would like to hear about these cool new minis...

one of the few thread on the f1 boats, these are such a niche market that it's going to be tuff finding others that have these and are willing to post in detail about them.

if you have any questions about parts, email the shop. shop@mini-zracer.com

..if all you are really asking is the difference between batteries i would go SANYO over ENERGIZER...much punch for your buck...just my opinion...

...the boats have been out for a while here but as Arch says they are VERY niche...motors are out too here...I have honestly never seen one...thats no surprise because i dont go near water

...I picked up some posters from my supplier though...pretty cool...

...off-topic but the h8 is pretty cool

theres a video of the boats in action on the Kyosho site....

I soo want one of these. I don't live near anykind of water whatsoever (besides the ocean) but I'll bet I can find a park with a pond somewhere around where I live..

I've never owned an R/C boat before but it just looks like they could be pretty cool.

and BTW I use Energizer rechargeables on my MR-02 racer and they seem fine to me.
I need to get the rapid charger though because the one that I bought with the set takes like 2 days to charge four AA's..

Bad Boat!

First impression
Took a Mini-Z Formula Boat out for a test run, my first impression was “this is fun but a little slow” and even before the battery ran out my next thought was “ok, I’m board” have to fix this.
http://lbspd.com/v-web/gallery/album...7/b1.sized.jpg
My fix
Custom 31 gage BSRT balanced armature with diamond trued comm, high temp auto aligning end bell, ceramic magnets, special brushes.
7.4 volt, 600 mAh Lithium-poly battery pack (only weighing 8 grams more than the stock pack)
http://lbspd.com/v-web/gallery/albums/album67/b3.jpg
Dry run
Turn on, test steering “ok works.” Tentatively try throttle “ok that works too.” Reverse “good.” Full throttle “nice” stop and try again “hm what’s up it seams to be stuck.” Free shaft from melted plastic “ok, important safety tip only run in water to keep shaft from melting plastic.”

In the pond
Put in water and pull throttle, boat takes off hopping like a dolphin “wow” give it full throttle and it jumps ahead nearly hydroplaning, then stops “woops.” Look at water and wonder if you feel like swimming “not” but fortunately the wind is blowing so it’s just a matter of time before it gets blown to the shore.

Conclusion
Yep, it’s a Mini-Z you put a super hot modified motor in and you will definitely fry the FETs. No problem aside from one FET being on the top and the other on the bottom of the CB, nothing a 2x2 stack won’t cure.
