Nexx racing

So, there is a new aftermarket parts maker in the mini z market. I am sure a lot of you have seen the NEXX racing posts on the social media. I have bought a few from Park Lane Hobbies, so they have a US distributor. So far they seem well made. Good fit and finish with more color choices. Not sure about performance yet. It is priced a little under PN, but not cheap by any means. My first impression of the rear end I bought: the good part is it has no screw holes so you can use it with Kyosho motors. It is very easy to get perfect pinion-spur spacing. Nice low center of gravity and adjusts to 98-102 mm. The parts I dont like: You have to choose square or round can motors. The mount for each is different. When you change pinions, you also have to move the disc damper post, guess where it goes and put it back together, which is a PITA. It might be a deal killer for the whole thing, we will see how annoyed I get. I do have the new V-line front end as well, but I just got it and haven't had a chance to mess with it yet. I think it is good that there is another aftermarket parts company that distributes to the US, we will see how it goes.

This is kind of true already with currently available mounts. Seems like PN motors won't fit in R246 mounts, Kyosho motors won't work with PN mounts, some need cans with screw holes, etc. I know there are workarounds and exceptions, but I've definitely made some motor choices based on what worked with my particular motor mount.

I think I might order the RM for a 90mm build.

Yes, this design is different than any Ive seen. It sandwiches the motor between the top carbon piece and the lower Aluminum frame. The pinion mesh is controlled by moving the carbon top plate back and forth. It will fit any brand motor, as long as it is a flat can. No brushless motors of any brand, unless you buy the round can version. My first experiment had major handling issues, but there were some other problems that I can't blame on the motor mount.
