Corvette Racing Chevrolet Corvette ZR1

Corvette Racing Chevrolet Corvette ZR1

More images HERE.

Materials:
Krylon Gloss Red Pepper
Krylon Matte Clamshell
Krylon Gloss Black
Pattos CorvetteC7RGTE-No64-LeMans-2019 clear vinyl decals at 1:27 scale with background colors removed.

The proper livery has a yellow base however I've never been a big fan of yellow cars and wanted to do something a bit different so I changed this one up a bit and swapped the Yellow for an Off White and very happy with the results.
With a limited color palette on this one, it remains well detailed. All the base, stripes and accents are painted with only the graphics being decals. I'm getting better at detailing these ZR1's now with base paint vs. decals. I of course kept my signature right rear taillight halo. Given the decal livery chosen, the reserved use of Red as an accent works well in my opinion. I carried over the running board trim line from the Redline livery as well.

VERY happy to see this one go to my close friend And look forward to seeing it on the track!

Very nice! That livery seems way better on your off-white than it would on yellow. Good call.

How is that matte finish? Do the decals still take to it well?

I would always buy gloss if the option was available however most of the time you just have to take what you get. In this case I’ve only seen this color in matte at retail. It goes on much finer coat and you have to lay it on a bit heavier than gloss in order to not get a grainy texture. The smoother you get the surface, the better the vinyl decals will stick. I’ve never had one that wouldn’t stick though. It does make a difference if your trying to force it into tight creases. I’ve found that if you apply even pressure for a bit it helps with sticking.
