without a doubt, steve mcqueen was the man..
as for the motorcyclist that got caught up in it, is one lucky extra.

My pick has to be (74) Gone In 60 Seconds.A real independant film at the time. Not the Jerry Bruckheimer bomb.In the poll it is not shown but my vote is for the 74' version.Another movie I like is Mad Max the audio is so realistc you can smell the gasoline from the pipes.

I totally agree. I watched Ronin twice purely for the chase scenes. And there's plenty of them! None look too 'fake' or over-exaggerated.

It's hard to pick just one. I agree with all the above so far, and add The Blues Brothers.
Also add some of the great chases in the various Bond films, even the boat chase (you didn't specify).

Gotta Admit, you have listed some pretty strong contenders there, But I would have to agree that Ronin has two of the the best chases ever committed to celluloid...
'When there is doubt there is no doubt. That's the first thing they teach you'
'Who teaches you?'
'I don't remember. That's the second thing they teach you...'

In The Blues Brothers, the smashed cops cars were Dodge/Chrysler.
They were said to be pure crap and sold to Hollywood specifically for wrecking.
The Chicago Police Dept. have not used Dodge/Chrysler since.
Are we doing animation too:
- Riding Bean - Agreed, Great car anime.
- Akira - Best motorcycle chase ever!

i'm sticking with ronin, i had to watch it again...just great. gets your heart pumping and wishing you were in the car.
i don't reccommend racing during or just after watching that though, it led to several crashes as my skills and my z can not compete on that level.
as for bond films, you can tell they are hollywood produced as they often do outrageous stunts that are just over the top. gone in 60 seconds is good as well, but we all know the shelby would never make that jump at the end. not without some serious assistance anyway. i prefer reality over the wow factor.
