Setting up an MF-015 chassis with an older Williams MF010 body set and when I put the body/nose on, seemed like there was little to no clearance of the ground in the front.
Then with the Shapeways Pre 2.4 Bumper installed (love the post 2.4 bumpers as I have them on my other F1's and love them) it was actually lifting the front wheels of the ground a little!!??!!!
Thanks Ed - mleemor suggested I post here. Love and use all your stuff on my F1's - it almost seems like the front wing on the Williams is lower than the newer mclaren/ferrari mf015 body sets?
Hi Ed,
I read the post above and got curious about your shapeways designs, so I had a little look and among some cool stuff I found one intriguing little one:
the MR03 Side Clip.
It has an extra part that- from what I can see, should lock itself to the chassis..
can you elaborate on this design a bit and tell me if you have been using these clips yourself and what are the results? I deelpy hate the mini-z side clip design in principle, and I'm always wondering what a better solution could be.
Cheers (and good luck with your health as from one posts seems like you have not been well)

That stands to reason with the fact that regulations for wing height during the Williams (2003?) was significantly lower than the following years. The Williams era produced way more downforce at the front wing than the following years.
That being said I would suggest removing the wing post pins, carefully filing material off the wing uprights and remounting the wing once you remove enough material.

That certainly was the intention with Eds creation. A guy in our club got a set to try and the extra material locks well against the back if the chassis tub.

Thanks for the help all! Yeah, I am in no way an expert on these cars, I am more of a guy whittling wood on the front porch than an expert chassis tuner working for McClaren... sorry if I sound like an ignoramus about my own designs, the wings were all a way to save some bucks for me and my crew to not spend so much for the same benefits of other types of frontal protection for our F1s. The side clips are kinda the same deal, kinda just a way to hold the bodies on a bit more than the factory ones, if installed properly, they do a better job at that.

Ok - it's actually two small screws on this one actually but I see that it's the only way. shame as I'd hate to screw up such a rare body
This is the best I could get it without grinding the nose wing supports a tad --- that's the only option or try to grind the bumper and the supports together? - whatdaya think?? --- maybe just grind to jut below the Michelin man:
It looks a little low at the wing ends....does the protector sit flush with the wing or is there a gap at those wing ends?
If there is a gap try a bit of heat (heat gun/blow dryer) and try to flex it to get it flatter to the wing. If it is flush I'd probably grind some more material off the center supports as those wing ends will scrape and throw corner handling out the window.

Just looking at the 7th picture down on Ed's original pre 2.4 post and the wing was revised so if I JUST ordeted less than a month ago, assuming I got the new revised design as there is only one type for pre 2.4 available?
If there revisions are built in then all fingers point to the upright sanding I suppose.
