New RCP Track Tiles/Rails/Discs for the Mini-96, dNaNo, Mini-z and HPI 1/32
We are manufacturing some new tiles and rails for the Mini-96 30cm kits. The new kits will be coming in on our next container shipment. The new items will be a great addition to your current tracks and will work great with the Kyosho dNaNo and new HPI 1/32 scale RC cars.
~ The idea behind these new pieces are to allow users to set up tracks in their home or limited space similar to slot car type tracks. Each complete section will allow a rail to be installed on both sides of the tile. Currently it takes 4 tiles and rails to make a 90 degree transition. The new tile design will incorporate one complete section to make the full 90. See pictures below.
~ The new straight sections will incorporate 4 straight tiles into one complete section. See pictures below.
~ Users can put together their tracks more quickly and can layout the tiles just as you do with slot car tracks.
~ We have also added a large radius outside/inside turn section. This will allow users to make large chicanes and also be able to wrap the turn around the standard 90 section. This will allow a larger track to be set up in a smaller area as there is practically no wasted space between sections.
~ We are also making some 360 degree discs that can be installed at the 180 degree turns and 90 degree turns. The discs will add some color to the track as well as giving the turns a more realistic feel and look.
~ All the new tiles and rails will connect up to current 30cm RCP track kits. If users want to increase the lane width, they can install one of our current 30cm sections and then add a blank tile to increase the width in 12" increments.
~ We are looking to add the new tiles into (2) new kits. The first kit would be called the Mini-24, which would allow users to set up the same size track as the Mini-96. The second kit would be called the Mini-12, which would contain enough pieces to make a track half as long as the Mini-96. The Mini-12 would run about half the cost of the Mini-96 and Mini-24. We may also add a Mini-48 which incorporates the 30cm tiles, so users can add them to their track if they want to increase the lane width. The Mini-48 will have half the pieces included in the mini-96.
New Kits
Mini-12 ( Includes the new large one piece sections and will allow users to set up a track half the size of the Mini-96)
Mini-24 ( Includes the new large one piece sections and will allow users to set up a track the same size and length as the Mini-96.)
Mini-48 (Uses the current 30cm tiles and allow users to set up a track half the size of the Mini-96)

Im glad to see you are still expanding your product line. The last thing I saw that I was really interested in for our track was the worm rails. Are those available yet? I havent seen them anywhere for purchase. I havent even seen any decent pics of the actual product up close for that matter.
For this group, the dots are what Im interested in. We are racing 50cm tiles, so Im not too interested in the rest of the stuff here, allthough I think they are good ideas. Will the dots work with the large tile system as well?

Funny that you are putting this new product line out. I just mentioned in the Dnano forum that you would do good to put out a smaller version of the Mini-96 for those with limited space.
It sure would be great to see your tracks the Mini-sized anyway at Hobbytown USA stores. Guys who have Dnano's mostly are limited to running at stores. The big question I here all the time is where can I get one of these tracks. Hobbytown doesn't sell them and most haven't heard of RCP.
The guys who have run thier Dnano's on my multilevel 24x12 RCP track are sold that it is the best surface for this scale and are know looking into the Mini-96.
It seems to me like introducing the whole product line to more retail locations would not only promote Dnano but Mini-z as well.
Your product changed my whole RC experience. Up until I started racing Mini-z's on RCP I was aimlessly driving around parking lots and empty fields just bashing around with friends weather permitting of course.
Anyway thanks for all you have done for sport! I believe in your product and will gladly do whatever I can to promote your product and company.

The worm rail designs are complete and ready to manufacture. Unfortunately I haven't received a tremendous amount of interest in them. I have received much more interest in adding new pieces to our current tracks. I was hoping the demand for the worm rails would be strong enough to support spending the large amount of dollars to make the molds for the plastic components. I haven't received enough support in the worm rails to proceed just yet, but haven't completely dropped the idea to make them eventually.
Since the addition of the soon to be released HPI 1/32 scale car and the already available dNaNo, I have decided to further expand our 30cm tracks with additional accessories and pieces.
The dots will work with both 50cm and 30cm RCP track kits. They will attach via the PINS that hold the inside turn rails to the tiles.

We have been selling tracks through Hobbytown USA stores throughout the US since 2004. There are approx. 160 ~ 170 HTU stores throughout the US. Not all of them have information about our tracks. It all depends on the owner of the store and which products he or she plans to market. Most of the time if a HTU store isn't selling RCP products, it's because they didn't know they exist. If you shop or race at such a store, by all means let them know about our tracks and have them contact me through our website. We have special tracks and RC car combo kits that would be a great item to market to first time RC'ers and as an entry level item to micro rc in general.
Thanks for your kind words, support and promotion of our products. Let me know if I can help in any way with your HTU store.

Is it too late to do the "one piece" curves as 45 degrees? or 22.5 degrees?
Or did you already spend cash on the tooling?

I started with one piece in the design, but they would require a box size too big and costly to ship. Trying to keep the cost down. If I can figure a way to ship them all one piece, I will make some on the next shipment.

I agree with Draconious, having more options of the angle of the curve can help making layouts that are more challenging and interesting.

This should fit in the same box you ship any of the one piece tiles in... the extra space would fit the rails/pins.
It should also require LESS part types. Just 3, instead of the 8 or so for your current design.
Potential issues though
1. The size of the inner-inner border.... not much space there... maybe just do the outer curve this way?
2. The angled straight will require the partial length straights to rejoin now... maybe you can stick a few in the extra space in the box of each one?
3. maybe your source can only cut the puzzle in a 90 degree pattern?

Thanks for the input Drac. The current large radius would take 4 tiles to make. We could do this same section in 3 equal turns, like you show. I agree with the short 90. Not much room on the inside rail for a PIN if we were to split this section into two. Maybe just change the outside large radius as you show. Users could use the short pieces to make chicanes, but would need to match it on the opposite side of the track in order for everything to come full circle. We could offer a few short straights to help make things line up again, similar to slot car tracks.

I would love to see this style of curve get into RCP... to see RCP finaly go beyond the limited grid... and get into free form!
The outer curve I drew up above, is 22.5 degrees (half of 45 degrees).
This way two of them makes a 45 degree to match up with the inner curve I drew.
The inner curves inner rail could still fit...
Try to do the inner curve at 45 too... this would allow you to combine 45 inner curves with 22.5 outer curves to make some interesting radius changing corners! (just like slot car track)
I have been more into slot cars lately, than RC. This is why my mind is thinking more free form tracks. I could not find a job, so I made my own: http://www.SlotCarRental.com
