MZ02 vs Existing Bodies

From what a few that I've talked to on IM have said about the enzo. NONE of the Autoscale bodies will fit it.. not a single one. The front wheel is not in the correct location to CENTER on the fenders of the bodies, and the width of the body mounts stretches the body wider... and this is assuming you make your own suspension plate to get the right rear end length by using the "old" MZ01 motor pod...

If this turns out to be true, and not an error on the part of those I talked too... I here by dub kyosho a bunch of stupid morons. I dont care if any one says its smart for marketing purposes, in the long run its gona bite them, and all mini-z owners in the ass.

I kinda dont even want the Enzo now... This means all the bodies out there, are useless unless you have the "old Z"... So what are they going to do now stop making the MZ01 size bodies? And only make the MZ02 bodies? or what?!

I guess what they are doing is sorta of abandoning 1/28 (even though none of the bodies are actualy 1/28 they are all about 1/25 to 1/26)? Purhaps they will re-release all the bodies in 1/24?!!?

Or maybe all of the bodies for the MZ02 will be exautics?
Enzo, Countach, Diablo, Saleen, Mclaren, GT40, Toyota GT One...

that was my biggest complaint too, not making the existing bodies compatible. i'm sure it's just a marketing ploy to get you to buy all the bodies again for the mr-02. greedy bastards. it really does alienate the old one...assuming the price eventually drops some...who would want to buy the old one knowing almost nothing is compatibale...it's a huge crossover makert that i think they ignored in my opinion.

Body issues

Drac,

That's a valid complaint. It's kind of unfair one those who have invested in many 1st generation AutoScale bodyshells.
Then on the flipside, there is never progress without pain and sometimes to progress involves exceeding the limitations of the first design.

If the 2nd generation bodyshells were only exotics, a-la Ferrari, Lamborghini and so forth, that kind of makes it an "elite" chassis
Not overly fair, but what can we do? Hell, we're only customers after all!
Anyways, my 2nd generation 'Z is ordered and paid for, it will make a nice "showdog/shelf queen" alongside my TamTechs and Aoshima Mad Max Road Warrior until I can get a bodyshell that's "bashable"

Calsonic fits with minor dremeling of rear wheel well. The fronts look just slightly off but still have plenty of clearance on the Calsonic. If it can be done on one, there is hope for the others...................

pic to follow

Calsonic mod

DAMZer,

Not knowing the Calsonic at all, is that a wide bodyshell?
Did you have to modify the side clips on the bodyshell, or was it a painless installation?

So is it, or is it not, forcing the body to be wider were the side clips are? or is it fitting nicely? -- if its not stretching it, ill be less ticked

It does not force the body WIDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If the rear body mount were moved about 1.5mm forward, the front wheels would be spot on, course you'd have to modify the front plate to compensate.

I think it can be done to any widebody long setting shell. Yes the Calsonic is a widebody shell, I ran the Vette stock chassis on the Calsonic without ANY Mods and the Vette rims are wider than the CLK/360.

My future project is a 1/24 Vette. That's what we all complained about before, fitting the numerous scale model shells, here's a taste.

Well if its not just a rumor, that means they will be re-selling the bodies to buyers... I think thats total crap... greedy marketing departments realy suck...

hey drac... no need to fret... go to http://www.ros-speed.com/

it shows some pics of the toyota supra and trueno with the mr02 chassis... i think he used the old motor mount and a different h plate.... on a h.k. site i read that they were able to use it with a f-40 (haven't seen it yet though)

i think this is good news...

I only refer to the front end when ppl say things dont fit, now that I konw the side is not stretched, and well the rear can always be changed easy...

Does the calsonic not fit, because it just looks like it dont fit? the front fender supose to be like that on that body? I remember it looking wered on the 01 chassis...

Also that supra body is a white unassembled kit, he could have easily relocated/atlered the body clips... wich most will not want to do if they want their body to work with both chassis...

Yea I think some ppl are just confused, the ppl I talk to on IM keep saying it dont fit for this or that reason... my guess is they probly do fit.... HOPEFULY... then maybe that NSX body is just the already existing body, and not trying to double sell things...
