Stock Class Rules Discussion

I'm getting ready to post our official schedule and rules for the 2008/2009 winter season. I want to make sure that we are all in agreement on the stock class rules before posting.

Last year's rules were this...
Stock Class - Stock class rules will be the same as the HFAY (How Fast Are You) rules. We will only be allowing the Kyosho Stock type motors this year even if the HFAY rules change on this. Click here for Stock Class Rules

This year...
...we've decided to allow the PN Racing HFAY OLPS Stock Class motor. I assume that this motor qualifies for HFAY as it falls under the "Any Brand Stock 130 Class motor" rule? Correct? I don't see anything specific to this motor on the HFAY website?

I would also think that for us, the HFAY FET rules could still apply. I know we discussed allowing "any" FETs, but I think it may still be wise to limit them to the HFAY rules. If we open this to any FETs, we'll all have to wind up stacking them to compete with the guy who decided to stack a bunch of them... I'd rather not have to raise the bar to that level in stock class to compete. It should be kept as consistent and affordable as possible.

Please post your thoughts.

I'm going to go ahead and post the season schedule and rules... but I'll reserve the right to change the stock class rules over the next few days pending this discussion. For now, they will simply refer to the HFAY rules.

Thanks everyone. Your input will be appreciated.

-Patrick

The HFAY rules were changed when we started season 6.

http://hfay.tinyrc.com/portals/0/fil...on_6_Racer.pdf

basically by running the HFAY motor (70 turn) it will essentially limit the available power. We have removed all Fet restrictions in HFAY. you only need to run the HFAY motor or the Kyosho Stock motor.

if I can answer any specific questions about the motor or rules let me know.

Thanks Brian! That's what I was looking for!

So if we went with HFAY stock rules, we would be limited to a Kyosho or HFAY stock motor and unlimited FET. That sounds good with me. What does everyone else think? If this is what we decide, I'll provide a link to the .pdf that Brian has posted.

I am ok with the speed with our current group of racers but if we go back to a public local and draw in new blood we need to try to slow the stock class down.

I picked up a eco motor this week from the shop here. I will break it in and get a base line on the difference. If I think it is a good speed i will put it in my practice car next race and let yall try it back to back with your current car.

Yes, I agree that if we go to a public place, we may want to create like a "Stock" (with eco motor) and "Super Stock" (current stock) class. I am happy with the current speed of the cars as well, but I feel like new people coming into the hobby would appreciate a slower class. We do not want potential new racers to be discouraged when we let them try one of our cars and they cannot get around the track. We should have a car available with an eco motor that we could hand off to new people to try out. We can discuss this more as we see how the season pans out. Thanks for the input Art.
