honestly your best bet would be to find someone selling an am f1 cheap and use the parts you need. you would end up cheaper as long as you didnt get robbed on the am chassis

Already have a AM.
This is going to be a complete build----I will buy the F1 2.4 chassis, small chassis parts bags, hardware ,etc . but don't know all the option parts reqiured to finish out the build.
Thanks to all for help and ideas in advance.
John

John, perfect timing, I happen to be doing the conversion (literally) right now, and I've been keeping track of what is/isn't required. I'll do a detailed write-up when I'm done, but the quick answer is that unlike other chassis, this one would actually be much easier to do completely from parts. So far all I've used from my old car is the servo gears, knuckles and tie rod assembly. I'm about to add the rear end, which is the main part that is missing from the MF-010 ASF parts pile, but other than that, I feel like I have almost an entire AM F1 left over. I've been taking pics and like I said will post more details soon. Btw, it's really good that you have an AM F1 because it's very handy to have a non-dissected specimen for reference in some of the servo assembly/wire routing etc.

yes as meticulous ....pot cleaning etc. But I really love my AM F1 and don't want to convert/strip or part out. rather put efforts into a build.

Their will be a strong blend of Kyosho parts + others
what has been shipped....ASF main F1 chassis bag, + ASF small F1 chassis parts, front clear bumper, screw set, ss kingpin. plus i have a few extra knuckles ,tie rods / am parts. MP4/29 white body thats just the chassis and front.
asides from a kyosho diff. everything out back should be after market?
thinking mantis cf/ pn lcg mtr mount using side springs
open to ideas/suggestions
Btw, Herman those links are a great resource here, thank you.
as far as custom= nothing other trying something different like building a Mini Z F1 ASF .

atm and pn make f-1 motor mounts, i don't have either so i just don't know which is better...
have read that mantis stuff is pretty good...
if you haven't ordered a 2.4ghz board, you might want to try the mr03 board... and swap out the servo motor...
good luck... and don't forget to post the pics of your conversion...

Ok, some pics... more pics to come..Btw, This is No CoNvErSiOn..
This last pic is in MOCK-UP.. I assembled the servo stack with delrin gears, then install steering, then put top cone on, i am going to use a color screw set---But this alll new, holes will first run with black screws to set threads-follow to replace with color, still need board, rear susp parts, and motor.

It's been sooooo long since.....
Thought I would continue to update this build, I mean heck, it's only took
Me several years...kidding aside. I had ambition then.
Jan 2012. On a 4day so cal trip, a friend and I went to Kenon on Sat with our AM F1 cars and drove, hung out with Phil, he was so kind and it was just the 5 of us that day- our wives came and watched. The key point here is back then
Is when I bought the F1 ASF board.
So if reading this build thread correctly, it has took me over 4 years to almost
Finish. And I am not done yet.
Here's what' I can remember
PN 0 toe bar
PN 0 knuckles
PN LCG motor V1
PN 64p diff
PN 70t motor
Mantis side plates
Kyosho rear shock
Kyosho alloy wheels
I swapped out the plastic KYO toe bar and the GPM 3 deg Knuckles
For the 0 degree PN stuff
Here it is, At this point I had aready binded and assigned it to my ex-5
So I am a Fan of 90's era INDY cars, F1 also but more of a classic C.A.R.T
SERIES, Rick Mears, Bobby Rahal, Al Unser jr, Paul Tracy.....
My plan is to paint the MP4-22 with a classic INDY theme.
Knowing these bodies are not close the to 90's LOLA or March Coswerths
I needed to remove some wings and fill.
