I am looking to understand the effects that modifying motors will have on the Mini Z I have built Slot car motors and they are a lot like the small can we use but I never had to deal with how the motor would affect the reciver. Help me understand this interaction. Why will a unit burn up? How to avoid it? What differance does a turbo make and why? Has any one timed a 130 Can like we did the larger slot motors? where can we get parts like brushers?
Motors draw/allow certain amps to flow through the circut... the Speed Controller being on this circut... and only able to handle like 1.5 to 2amps..fries REALY easily... slot car motors can draw upto 10 to 15 amps... so whatever you modify keep the amp draw low.. or by pass the ESC on the mini-z board.. or just ge hog wild and replace the entire Mini-Z electronics... then you will have plenty of head room to use other motors.
Slot car motors are AC, not DC and 1/24 scale Super-Slots run on 16VAC. So, those motors are NOT compatible with a Mini-Z.
As for the motor you posted the link to, well, that isn't a 130 class motor, it's a 280 and that just will not fit.
Want to add some performace? Perhaps debble in a Twin-Turbo, modified motor and a Squat bearing fitted motor can and end-bell.
Do it properly, first time around then you can focus your energies on the better qualities of a Mini-Z like handling and driving skills.
