Unhappy Steering Servo wiring help needed

The MZ8-2 steering servo thing has three possible wiring hookup points and I cannot get it all back together successfully (working).

Looking forward from the rear of the car... which "pins" do I need to solder the green and orange wires to and is it possible this part has packed it in, because my steering servo no longer wants to steer (servo motor does run happily though).

Is there a special alignment procedure for reassembly?

Worst case scenario????

Can I buy a complete unit or do I need the part number quoted above?

... or can smeone please help me out somehow.

Please help gurus.

Thanks in advance.

hmm as far as i know there are supposed to be four wires to the servo... two for the motor (black and red) and two for the potentiometer (green and orange) - not sure about the colors though might have mixed them up...

since you mentioned three... that might be your problem... you're missing one...

if you can find out which one is missing and solder it back together, it's supposed to work... can somebody post pics to the wires and their solder points?

Can I buy a replacement potentiometer?

thanks for the reply...

Sorry... i was talking about the two wires that run to the potentiometer, which I have subsequently discovered is cactus (not working).

Does the MZ8-2 part come with the potentiometer (i don't think so) and where can i get a replacement now i know it is the sick component????

Any idea (thanks in advance)?

gk

p.s. couldn't find it in the "shop".

note, MZ8-2 is just a servo gear case, the CASE, just the white plastic box.. and the metal shafts inside, isnt even any gears in it. let alone the motor and motor sensor.

Solder it and assemble the thing together it should work, what is not working on it?

if you need a new pot,
you can most likely go to any electronics store, here in the US you can probably find a replacement pot at radio shack, just not the
resistance and size of the mini-z pot ( i don't know the specs off
hand)
but regarding which wire goes wehre....you know two of the
three pins are soldered together to make it a resistor pot
or whatever you call it right?
then i guess you have a 50/50 chance of getting it right
otherwise, i, or i'm sure someone else would too, will try to find
time to pop open the servo case and check it out...
good luck!
