Levi Hobby Easy Lap?

Has anybody tried the Levi Hobby Easy Lap system? It seems pretty new, and I cant find any real info on it.
Thanks

I am also looking for info on the USB EasyLap System(Not to be confused with the camera-based system that I have tried with very limited success). I race with a friend or two on a home track, so the price is very very appealing, but I would love to hear from someone that has tried it or knows anything about it before I spend hard earned cash.

Lapcounter with 4 transponders is $200. Transponders are $20 each.

Kenon also sells it, but for a little more money. I haven't compared the prices when you include shipping. They state that the transponders are compatible with Robitronic.

Awesome. Thanks for the reply! Are you using the included software or something else?

Just using the included ZRound and the Race Manager that they supply with it. Both are available online.
I got one of the early systems, the new ones look much better with the Decoder Box, Receivers & Transponders all cased in the blue. I would buy from their Website to get the latest version or you might get an old stock set.

Hi Arch, I didnt’ see a reply to your post. I also just picked up an EasyLap system to go with my Trackmate (local track uses EasyLap so no more switching transponders). It is compatible with Robitronic as far as I have read and tested with ZRound.

So if I-Lap is compatible with Robitronic, good chance it will work.

Cheers
Tim

Greetings! Just wondering if all of the above info is still pertinent or valid today?

Any new updates on lapcounting systems for 2018? How about compatible software?
And also I believe that there are some compatible 3rd party transponders too...

What is your local track using?

Appreciate any reply...

I might be wrong, and my experience with these things is not vast, so take this with a grain of salt. I think most of the infrared-based systems are compatible with each other (usually a transponder that must be visible through windshield, and a sensor bridge over the track). I also think most software is designed to accept a signal from a USB decoder, so again, most will be interchangeable. Also, perfectly adequate to great software is either free or has a demo mode to see if it works, so there's no penalty for just trying it.

Where things will NOT be interchangeable is systems with RFID chips or optical/camera based tracking. These are systems with a camera on a tripod, or a sensor wire that runs under the track.

Our local track uses I-Lap bridge and decoder, and most people have I-Lap transponders, but I think there are a few others in the mix, Orange RC and Robotronic I think. We've been using that Next Level Timing software I linked in the other thread.

A note on the Next Level Timing software: practice mode is where it really shines. There are unique audio tones and voice announcements that provide you with lap time, fast lap, and consistent laps based on parameters you can control.

A bunch of the systems are not compatible.

I've heard Robitronic and Easylap systems are compatible
I know Trackmate transponders are not compatible with Easylap/Robitronic or Ilap
I know ILap transponders are not compatible with Easylap/Robitronic or Trackmate
Orange RC makes a decoder that can read Trackmate and Ilap transponders.
Orange RC also makes ILap transponders and Trackmate transponders that are compatible with either ILap or Trackmate but not both. These transponders are also supported by their decoder.

As for software, I'm the owner of Next Level Timing. It is a wonderful experience but I'll be the first to admit that it is feature poor at the moment. It was not released long ago and there is a lot to do.

Currently my favorite decoders are Trackmate and ILap. I've heard good things about the OrangeRC decoder but I don't have one myself. I've used both extensively and they have worked well. The EasyLap and Robitronics systems I like less because they send signals to the computer about once a second. This means my software's sound for registering laps can be off by a second and it feels gross. But if you can live with that they are probably fine.

Having used iLap for many years, we recently made a switch to easy lap, and noticed the delay in sound passing through the loop. We also noticed more missed laps on multiple easy lap systems with zround software. We're not quite sure whether it is improper specifications for sensor placement on the bridge, or voltage to the transponder among other issues. I wonder if the lower polling rate has any effect on the missed laps...

Bade, I emailed you on use of NLT. When you get the opportunity, please get in touch, eager to give NLT a try on non-format racing days.
