Possible Future Mini-Z Track Location (Macomb County Michigan)
Soon I will have enough RCP track and a CORE lap counter. I may also soon have a possible store/office location to semi-permanently set up a track.
I goto this shops Ann Arbor race, but it is over 2 hours away, and it is often too late for most racers to show up... since we race until 2am or later. The location is great, but the floor is a bit uneven (I am picky), so I was hoping to setup a good place to practice and race mini-z... it would be semi-public most of the time, but public durring the races etc.
The place will not be free, so I will be charing a day-fee to race or practice, possibly a entry fee if there are any long-term race events (still in planning stage). For now I figure like $5.00 for the day per racer.
So I am curious how many visitors and or racers I might get... Please use the POLL to vote.
I plan to focus primarily on the 1:27 scale cars... Mini-Z Xmods etc... if it can fit under and autoscale it will be allowed in any of my "open" classes. After all I do plan on releasing my own chassis in the future .
I'm sure that just having the track would generate members. If you get out and throw some flyers around... maybe even hit up some local businesses and tell them you'll have price breaks for group gatherings and such, they should show.
1/28th is not as big as it should be right now. (that's right... I said it)
But I'm sure that that is mostly due to lack of exposure. I know from personal experience that it is not due to the actual racing... this scale gives all an opportunity to experience the fastest, most technical type of RC racing anywhere !
Promote... promote... promote...
If people have a clean place to go to, set up, and have some great racing for low cost... in theory, they should go to it.
If I was to set up a shop... I would probably schedule events throughout the week.
F1s Wednesday nights
Drift AWD Thursday nights (spec hard drift tires)
Outlaw Racer Fridays
Stock Racer Saturdays
(With an HFAY Event for the Stocks on one Saturday once a month.)
Then CP Cup car Sundays (get that Nascar crowd hooked !)
All other days could be open practice, or party events or something. If you setup days for specific styles... you might develop small cult followings within your own organization which should generate a steady stream of people. Also, by having multiple classes on different nights, you will have a greater retail opportunity for selling more of a variety of parts and RTRs.
And as far as un-even surfaces go... I would consider Laguna un-even too, but it's my most favorite track out of all of them !
Good luck Drac, hope you do it... you've been around these cars long enough... might as well give it a go.
Even if you fail... at least you will be able to say you tried !
