I haven't had problems with the alloy steering bar (in fact my plastic one broke!)... but my alloy knuckles have been giving problems (or at least between the knuckles and the king pins...)
I bought shiny new kingpins, and new alloy knuckles to replace the stock ones, and they worked beautifully (silky smooth)... for a couple days. After a few days of driving around the parking lot at work, I noticed severe "sticking". the right knuckle would get caught on near the top of the kingpin and my front end would drag...
I've cleaned both the king pins and the knuckles thouroughly, but it still sticks... I'm not sure what will solve this, but I'm considering ordering some new kingpins...
I think the dust from driving "sanded" my kingpins so they aren't smooth any more.
Anybody else have this problem? or for that matter a solution?
Don't use alloys. When you start using alloys, you've got to change everything to alloy. For example, if u get alloy knuckles, you'll soon need to get alloy steering bar. Then after a while, you'll need to buy alloy servo gears. Since alloys are much stronger than plastic, the alloys tend to break plastic parts on impact causing u to change everything to alloys. This will cost u well above $100 or more on these alloy parts.
The alloy servo gears tend to cause radio interference causeing twiching and out of control steering. Don't use them!! I would rather stick with plastic parts because it saves money and time.
