Tx range

i was thinkin of postin in the 50' challenge thread, but it seems my radio range isnt that far. At about 20ft out, the car starts to lose control. Any ideas why? the Tx batts. were at full charge. btw, check out the logo i made in the www.mini-zracing.com>strategy thread.

Well if you got 20 foot... that will probly stretch to 25... and that should let u stand in the middle of the 50' run .

Any way I been testing my custom antenna out lately, and I can now get like 60 foot with out constant wheel twitch, still an occasional one, and I think it will probly go twice that.

But my antenna is twice as tall .

I tried a nine inch K-wire (0.9mm diameter stainless steel pin)
But it didn't do any good

well on top of my custom wire, and attachment to board (its in my quick fix section on my site). I saw some were i totaly forget some one saying to wrapp the lead wire around the antenna wire... this worked pretty good, but the primary range fix was in the lengthening of the wire.

I do regret one thing though, I totoaly forgot about having to push the antenna through the body hole... and I made the loop way too big for it, luckily I have a removeable antenna (even though the lead wire is attached to the anntenna). thus I just take antenna and body off at same time to fix etc.

I could probly make and sell them cheaper then the Kyosho antenna kit -- but mine arent so straight, I twist a folded antenna in half, so its kinda realy 4 times as long as the Mini-Z antenna, just folded in half. But the twist works great for hiding kinks you can straighten it after a roll over and not realy notice it as easy.

Also for TX range, use fully charged batteries... Rayovac and Energizer NiMH 1600mah is what I use in my controller.
Sanyo is usualy the best on most cell sizes, and energizer commonly repackages Sanyos as their own, in the rechargable market.

I also think I can get that 60 foot with my tx antenna down... I should go try it.
