Is the track still Open? Questions Inside
I live about 35 miles from Albany and am curious if this track is still open. Also, is it strictly Mini-Z racing or do they also have XMods racing as well?
Also, Do they allow I-Wavers to run with the Mini-Z's?
Thanks,
Paul

Yes Cp raceway is still open we race mini-z mod on Tuesdays at 7pm. We are open 7 days a week for practice. It gets slow during the summer so we only race one night a week until the fall. CP Mini RC Raceway will be hosting our third mini-z cup race sometime in March 2005. We do not allow I-Wavers because we host the mini-z cup every year for the north east. We like hosting mini-z cup and do not want to piss off Kyosho by allowing I-Wavers, which are a blatant rip off of Kyosho’s intellectual property.
We also do not allow XMods we tried it and had nothing but trouble with XModers example One figured if he couldn't "race" you, he would try to take your car out. XModers can take there cars and race them at the nearest radio shack raceway.

I could understand not allowing Iwavers at Kyosho sanctioned events, but not allowing them for league racing? That's almost like telling XRay folks they can't race their M18's because your afraid HPI will get mad at you and kleep you from hosting one of their events.
I don't care to get in any argument over intellectual rights, etc. All I know is if I am presented with a $26 car that is as capable as a $140 car I am doing the smart thing and taking the cheaper one.
SAnyhow, it's your track so I guess you have every right to choose who races there, but if I were running a business, especially a 1/24th R/C track I would be welcoming everyone. The more the merrier, especially for a track such as yours that charges for track time.
Thanks anyway,
Paul

A 26 dollar car does not have the speed, handleing and turning of a mini-z if you come down there to watch a race you will see what i mean. and the owners do ALOT for the memebers ,They just put on a new surface , lowerd the track time and help out alot. remember support the shop!

While I can not argue one way or the other since I don't have a Mini Z, I was under the impression it's the same exact car.
It puts the Xmods to shame...hands down. Anyhow...it doesn't matter all I really want to do is race!! Since CP is the closest (and only???) organized racing near me and if it's a Mini-Z I need I guess I have no choice. My 9 year old keeps eye balling the IWaver anyway. Sigh...I am getting tired of buying th wrong stuff. I have a Micro RS4 I can't use outside of my driveway, a T-Maxx 2.5 with no where to actually race and now an Iwaver I can't use anywhere but at home.
So before I take the plunge and buy something, can one of you tell me:
How many people show up to race on any average night?
What do they race mostly? Stock, Modified, MR-01, MR-02?
Where do I buy it? I saw Hobby Town on Central Ave had two mini-z's but I don't know enough about these to know what I am buying.
Finally, I am not from this area. I have only been here a year. How do I get to CP? Is it off the Northway (I-87)?

PaulN we are off the Northway I-87 exit 9. If you are coming north on I-87 you would take a LEFT on to 146 from exit 9, we are in the Clifton Park Center Mall right next to the Northway.
Before you buy anything please stop by are shop or call 518-371-4887 and ask about are memberships. Members get special pricing on parts, track time and race entry fees.
So stop by or call we will be happy to answer all your questions so you don’t buy the wrong stuff .
P.S. We are a Member supported Mom and Pop shop, are Members are the only reason we have bin in business for two years now.
P.s.s take a LEFT on to 146 from exit 9. Opps

Coming north on the Northway (87) you would want exit 9 and take a LEFT onto rt 146 (at the light at the end of the exit ramp) then take another left at the next light. Monil and Fleet bank (soon to be relabled Bank Of America) are on the corners that you will pass between. The mall is on the left. I have been a member for the past 2 years and enjoy my time there. Everyone that shows up is very helpful along with the owners. Hope to see you there some time. My schedule is tight during the summer but come September I'll be racing there again!

Right or Left? I'm confused.
If the mall is beside the northway I suppose I should be able to find it.
Do you race tonight? Maybe I'll swing by and check it out tonight.

When you get off the northway, you want to go WEST (Left) on rt 146. You will see the mall on your left after you go under the bridge for the northway. You won't miss it.

Eric told me about the enzo setup. Sounds like most racers have found the secret to the surface and track. I can't wait to come back to the track. Due to the summer days, and work hours and moving from house to house, and falling into money problems because of expenditures on my Brother in laws wedding, its been tough to get up the motivation to come back to racing my Z.
It looks like I am going to have to jump into another class, and not just modified....
I am going for the F1 I think...
Also, Eric I appreciate you explaining the (Iwaver and X mod) situation with your shop and Kyosho. Its good to know we have a shop that is dedicated to ALL members.
