I find 2S gets the servo a little too hot... maybe it was the super high grip that I was dealing with when I was testing lipo (wide foams up front, with traction compound). The voltage also destroyed plenty of brushed motors. The speed is there and consistent, but until we have brushed motors that can withstand the voltage without overheating and arcing... i think 2S is relegated to brushless use for constant use.

I still dont have a running brushless car, and lack the funds to build one properly. I never liked the lack of drag brake on the VE boards, so havent really given brushless a shot.

I am trying to keep expenses to a minimum, and race what I have now, which means standard mini-z electronics... but I do want to try a 3500 on 2S with a proper speed controller and Sanwa receiver. With a lower BEC from the ESC, it shouldnt heat the servo motor as much as the VE board, plus drag brake can be adjusted.

I am new to brushless and never messed with lipo batteries. For our size track I can not see needing to go any faster then what I can get out of a 31 turn brushed motor. Some guys might change my mind after this race we have coming up... I do love running the mod cars though. We only run mod once a month. I would run it every weekend if I could. The brushless 5500K motor is got good speed to it also.

The main difference that I notice on brushed motors AAA 32t vs 2S Lipo even with a 70t is how the 2S pulls instantly off the corner, and it doesn't let off. Then at the end of the race day, you're throwing out that motor. The 32t seems to have more to end power, but can struggle a bit coming out of slower speed corners.

If traction is medium or lower, it would be a disadvantage using Lipo as the extra power will result in more wheel spin. If you can get the car to hook up, then it goes in favor of the Lipo.

As long as we keep things running this schedule is do-able. The next class needs to start on time so if things run longer it will eat into the practice for the next race class.

I was thinking a hour for qualifying and a hour for the mains in each class.

That looks pretty decent. Four cars per heat seems a little light though for a track that size.

from my understanding, It's 5 per heat including the bump up.

Bump ups could cause time constraints with batteries with running each class separately. If classes are staggered, there may be extra tonne for bump ups to have a second pack charged.

part of time management and being prepared

5 per main is comfortable, any less and your all spread out which is not bad but simply adds far to much time to the schedule. any more and your running into traffic more than anything else. Then again, if attendance greatly surpasses anticipated numbers, who knows...

There would be five cars on the track for heats and the mains. Four cars would be set for each main and then one car would bump up to make it five in each main. As far as the batteries go if you think you may bump up you should plan ahead and charge a extra pack 5 minutes after you start the other pack. Everyone should count on 2 minutes between heats and between mains.

Sorry guys. I misread it.

In order to get the bump you must win the race you were in, correct? If the winner chooses not to bump will the next driver in line get it?

Someone would decline a bump?

Someone would have to show me how that is done I've never arbitrarily bumped a drive up before and curious if it's as simple as picking a driver and selecting and 'pump' up racers?

No, only the winner can bump up. If they don't want to bump then it would be just 4 drivers in the next main. It has happened before with the driver that could bump up thinking that he wants the first place trophy for the race that he just won.
