===> Custom MOTORS <===
I got tons of motors from toys and old rc's.. Some are brand new.
I would like someone to teach me how can i see if a motor can work in a mini Z.. I heard something about frying my ESC....
What's a ESC? How can i see if the motor is good for a Z?
Here comes again my motor's pic.

W4R_M4ST3R, your ESC (Electronic Speed Control) is what makes your Mini-Z go forwards and backwards. Due to the fact that it's only expecting about half an amp draw, some motors will overload the circuitry, effectively killing your Mini-Z. As such, you need to put a turbo in between the motor and the ESC to protect it and to allow higher amp draws. Look for somthing like:

W4R_M4ST3R,
You asked this: but looking at a motor, how can i really see it's amp drawing?
Answer: You can't! 130 motors have zero markings on them.
Some are 3v (volts) 6v, 9V, 12V and even 16VAC 130 motors made for slot cars. Plug the wrong motor type in and your Mini-Z is history.. just like that!
There is NO way to distinguish the different types by looking at them. Even if you disassemble them and look inside, you won't know the difference..
The only way to test the current draw is to place a meter on the terminals and rev the motors flat out to check the current draw.
Don't attempt this without a Turbo or Twin-Turbo.
In fact, why dont you rather invest in a decent GPM motor from the shop here, or an X-Speed from your LHS. At least you know they work and won't cook your Mini-Z's circuitry.

One clue is to open the motor can, if the brushes are just thin pieces of copper (fingers).. then DO NOT USE IT , that alone pulls more amps then it would with large brushes. The reason most ppl who use other motors use the brushes from their stock Mini-Z motor. Get an amp meter and a set of batteries, and just hook them all together...

Z's Voltage
Simple.
The Mini-Z uses 4 x AAA batteries, if they are alkaline, it's 4x1.5v that equates to 6v.
If running NiMh's it's 4x 1.2v, so that equals to 4.8v

Thats its voltage... but the voltage on motors is not the problem.. its hte AMPS... they draw when used at that voltage.

Venting: This is a waste
W4R_M4ST3R
No offence, but this Thread is just becoming long winded and your are asking questions that cannot be answered.
You abviously have a large collection of 130 motors, of which I guess, most are incompatible with the MIni-Z.
The solution to getting a faster motor is to either buy an over the counter performance motor a-la GPM or X-Speed or perhaps order a custom motor from someone like NML.
Perhaps you could end this by just plugging that collection of motors into your Mini-Z and working it out for yourself.
Sorry, but this is just an aimless and repetative process that I find frustrating. Like preaching to the converted..

Lighten up! questions are good! this is what a forum is all about for those who want to learn to be able to do so. You are very knowlegable and are highly respected because of the knowledge you have, but some of us are learning and will ask questions that may be simple to you but not us.
W4R_M4ST3R
ask what you want no one has to read or answer a post unless they just want to.
lets keep it Fun
