Question Frequencies, has anyone had this happen?

Just curious if anyone else has experienced this. I have several Mini-Zís. Recently, I picked up a controller with a #6 crystal and a car with a #1 crystal without noticing. The car responded to the controller, only because of modifications Iíd made to that car, forward was reverse and visa versa. This made me check the frequencies and discover that I was using the wrong controller.
This also has me asking some questions.
Why would a car with a #1 crystal respond to a controller with a #6 crystal? Could this cause interference when racing with multiple cars on these frequencies?
Any input would be appreciated!

Reciever will listen to the strongest signal that is closest to the right frequency... this is why most higher quality radios are tuned to a specific set of crystals... and your not supose to change aircraft radio crystals for safety issues etc...

It is also why the US channels are only 6... when japan and some other areas use 12... the 6 channels are further apart, skiping every other 12 channel freq...

All right Drac! Youíre the man. So itís a signal strength issue. As long as the proper controller is powered up, the corresponding car will respond properly, overpowering the other controllerís signal.
Thanks again for the information. As always.!
