Top 2 Mini-z Innovations
I thought i would start a thread on what people think is the 2 best innovations to make the mini-z as popular as its getting. My 2 thoughts are..
1. detailed autoscale bodies. My personnal #1.
2. RCP track. Without it it just wouldnt be the same. Sure beats my basement floor.

Have all the bodies and rcp you want.. with out this forum... the Mini-Z would not be that popular... it was the first large forum, other than martini-racings Mini-Z forum (back in 1999-2000)... all others are just copies...
After the forum, the RCP tracks...

1. HFAY - I love this. It's an awesome way of seeing how good you are and it gives you a reason to race and something to race for.
2. The 02 Chassis - Blew me away and is so well designed.

My top 2 picks when I started in 2003-
The MR-02
The RCP track
My top two today-
More affordable lap timing systems
The MA-010
Bodies would be my third
HFAY would be my 4th

For me, I would have to say, #1 the Autoscale bodies, I started collecting them a year before I even had a chassis or drove one. #2 would have to be affordability, compared to the other R/C options out there, these are certainly(sp?) a great R/C for the money.

Number one contribution is size. With house price going for half a million, there are not that much land near by to play 1/10 scale. Even 1/18 scale requires a good size parking lot. Mini-z track can be set up on a driveway or indoors.
Two is performance. Cars are fast and quiet. Turning radius is tight and steering is precise. That is compared to an x-mod. Autoscale body would be three. It helps lure in people who are not hardcore racers that run pan cars. It helps justify paying for such an expensive toy. I liked the 934 / 935 and Countach bodies. They are miniature copies of the first generation Tamiya R/C cars in the 70's. That got me started.

well I don't know if I could list just 2.... I listed them in the order that I got into this hobby.
1. Mini-zracer forums (visit almost daily)
2. MR-02 chassis (have several)
3. Autoscale Bodies. (working on 90+ )
4. RCP Tracks (lot's of this too)
5. Lap Timing System (have core)
6. HFAY
All of these together make for the greatest hobby out there. in my opinion of course.

You got a good point there. If not comming across the mini-z forum and shop, i wouldnt be as hardcore and involved in this hobby as i am. I guess i thought more on the lines of the mini-z itself.

1-I'm gonna sound like a nut, but I think that Xmods brought alot of attention to Mini-z. Just about all Xmod forums I've been to has had something about a Mini-Z. Sounds kinda like innovation to me
2-MR010. Awd RC's are great drifters.
Honorable mentions
Batteries-What else would you run them on?
The Wheel-Triangles and Hexagons just aren't the same...

Gotta love the AutoScales! Like collecting plastic model kit's that you don't have to build! And they just keep getting better and better and adding more and more! Getting to be a rather expensive hobby though.

1. Smart scale: smallest scale really competitive, watch Lits and Epochs having less realism in behaviour, and 1/18 being too large for indoor...
2. Durable beauty: bodies are awesome but relatively strong in the same time.
Other picks would be
3. Ease to race: Apart RCP tracks, carpet and foam walls make for a cheap track easy to setup or to move everywhere.
4. Correct price: A little more than a hi grade slotcar, but has a steering, suspensions, a diff, and does not need routed lanes
5. Making friends: That hobby led me to meet 50+ sportscar fans since 2001 that were not necessary RC guys, many are real friends now.
All with the help of this forum of course, that made it popular.

Dont' forget the AD Band. Without it my fast cars don't run properly in many places.
