Reston Tires = Amazing handling on Hardwood floors
hi,
my friend gave me a set of Tamiya Mini 4WD reston tires. I put them on my mini-z and ran it in my living room. the room is completely hardwood floor so usually rubber tires will attract dust and loose grip.... anyways, I put the reston tires on and WOW!!! Amazing results!!! I can tackle corners at full speed.... and with the X-Speed + squat bearing can, I can accelerate like mad.... it's amazing..... oh man.... i'm so hyped up about this performance increase......
oh yea, i can do traction rolls too....

But Tamiya is pretty ancient now.........and never even really became a fad in the US.......so it might be somewhat harder to find them.......but you'll probably be able to find them cause Dungan Racers are taking the place of Mini4wd in Japan and they can use same tires

Well.. dangun racers only have 8mm tires as mini4wd has 8mm and 11+ mm tires.
I can't recall exactly, but I had to trim the rear tire to fit the CLK rims.
I'd recommend you search for the mini4wd tires, they don't look so cool, but they're cheap and the grip is amazing compared to stock tires
Edit: usually you trim the TIRE rather than the wheel ok, I did remove the ridge from the wheels also.

wedge- what color are they? at the track most guys get the gray colored ones as they offer best durability with grip...

you'll have to cut them down to size with an xacto knife though...

Dudes, I've always said that should be the first upgrade.
I still can't figure out if Reston is the brand name or the material name but all I know is that they grip like hell.
Maybe not always the best choice in tires but certainly for low traction situations.

Reston is the material.......Tamiya makes rubber, sponge, and reston tires for the Mini4wd

I really doubt color matters........i've seen orange restons, blue, red, yellow, green, heck even rainbow.....and i didn't see much difference in the performance ...

i've had this car since x-mas of 2001... and i've been racing it like every single day for 2 hours per day..... I go to my LHS which also has a track almost every week and crash around there.... and additional scratches come from parking lots, driveways, and other stuff.....
i don't need to glue my tires on cuz they stay on quite well..... i haven't tried the foams so i'm not sure how foams handle like....

most of us use double sided tape and if they are a bit thick, we use the dremel to sand it down...
