Freshly Painted Pair of Corvette C5R's

I run the Corvette C5R on my AWD's. I recently painted a pair of 'em for my open and HFAY cars!

Please, share your thoughts.

Tom.

Easter egg look, fits the season... Nice choice in decal

I would have shaved the diffusor a little before painting for clearance on the track, besides that, nice work. If you are running HFAY, it shouldnt be too much of a problem, but if the track is a little bumpy, it can cause wierd spin outs...

Yeah, you're right. They're far too low and rub. I need to re-clip 'em.

That was the plan lol. I wanted bright cars and at our club, white and yellow are very common. I wanted something... Different. I have a sky blue for car no.3 too lol.

I can tell you layered the paint thin to help keep the detail lines of the bodies. Great job!!!

The paint definitely looks good. The color choices are really cool, and visible. If Im speaking honestly though Tom, I think they are missing a little something. If there was some detailing on them I think it would really set them off. Just some black trim on the lower body, or the wing posts, diffuser, mirrors, window trim, just something It would really contrast well, but not take away form the simplicity of the scheme. Still cool, and Id definitely rock either of them

Cheers man, I think you're right about the contrast and details, etc. Hooowwwever. My detailing skillls are poor to say the least. I would ruin them. I did want to do only the mirror faces and the diffuser in black. I can't bring myself to do it though. I'll wreck them.

Use a black permanent marker, much easier to apply than paint, and should have the same look after clearcoat. Although, since you will be applying it on paint, Im not sure how that will come out (if it will show through some of the color, or leave streaks). You can test on the inside of the body before doing the outside. Just tape off the outside borders, and keep all of the brush strokes in the same direction and it should look fine. I have used Sharpie markers on unpainted bodies for a while to give it some contrast before I started to get them painted by DaveyG.
