Interesting for the stock spring setup.

I have been running the stock spring setup since the 03's inception. I remember when the 03 came out, everybody I knew was running faster lap times with the 03 COMPLETELY STOCK! No carbon/fiberglass T-plate, stock black front springs - Just the rear suspension stock (PN pod + DDS). Now you'd be lucky to find more than a handful of guys not running Reflex's front "top-Shock" design front suspension on their 03's.

I have found that the 03 works great with the "Stock" front susp. design. Kyosho didn't design the 03 with no knowledge of front suspension. Mainly the the concern I've heard from people is softness of spring rates. There have been some new spring developments in springs from PN, Super-Soft and what-not. Combined with these new Kyosho front suspension dampers, even harder (Not super-hard, just slightly harder) springs might work better too.

I will be looking for this damping kit

Any chance of the top shocks be compatible with the PN upper arms? I saw a ball link that seems like will be conected to the upper arms.

Doubt it.

PNs arm holes have an elliptical shape to them.
Also, take notice that there are no spring
perches on the arm itself to free the new
part up.

The 416 is a ball and socket design to be
used with K's own alum arms or the 416-01
pictured.

Looks like you'd have to glue the bottom to that
alum piece or it'd be able to get jarred loose.
Top doesn't look too secure either. Might be
more trouble than its worth.

More interested in their new brass gear than
anything else to be released soon, but this
looks interesting as I also prefer the original
03 config as opposed to the sprong over arm
set up.

Off-topic: Pfc, What have you heard about this new brass gear? Is this a replacement servo gear to help eliminate servo gear breakage? Or it something else completely?

This K damper system does look kinda fragile now that I look at it again... I am still going to give it a try when it becomes available. You and I might be the only guys running the OEM front suspension config

Gets pretty annoying if you have to switch springs, so I can
understand the preference for ease with the over arm set up.

Haven't been following releases that much anymore as I
have been pretty good about cutting back. I think the
gear is a direct replacement for the one stripping
with LiFe users and general use wear. Should be out
at the end of the month.

Seems pretty pricey for a single gear though...

I was hoping they'd release a full set of metal gears as in
some of the better micro servos out there, but I guess it'd
cost too much and would probably wear the motor out
faster.

I think those are preload spacers Mike... not o-rings.

There is a thread about it here. It looks interesting, and worth trying...

Back on topic,

Other than HERE and a couple of other places, I have seen very little about these Kyosho front dampers, maybe because of the $25 price tag. Any more feedback from users in general and specifically as it relates to potential weaknesses pointed out by parts above?

Also wondering about flex in arms that come with MZW416 compared to stock arms. They look the same except for the modification to accomodate the ball from the damper, so guess they will flex too much with added sticktion of this front end. If one then has to buy Kyosho's alloy arms (MZW415) at $35 to overcome this, it ends up being a pretty expensive front end option at over $60.

Thanks!
