The Capital Challenge, Gaithersburg, MD

Thats right, The Capital Challenge, the first big race to come to the DC area. With the help of a local hobby shop, The Track, we now have a sutable location to host large events and we are going to kick things off right.

We will be using Giroz so if you have your own transponder please bring it. I have 2 loaners but if you choose to use one of mine you will have to pass it around all day. Landon(hrdrvr) will be bringing his transponders with him and they will be available for use for $5.00. That way if you dont want to hassle with turning the transponders in after every race you can have you own for the day for a small fee.

If you have any questions regarding rules or the race please feel free to ask, being the first time I've done this I know there bound to be some things I missed.

Looks good... does the RX-7 FC3S count as a Hatch?

I assume that VW GTI/R32 would... I think it would be a good idea to come up with a concrete list of what bodies are and are not allowed. With no motor limit, and skinny rear tires/wheels... this should be a fun class to try to get the power down. I definitely want to run this class.

I am trying to make arrangements now so I can attend the event

Are there any chassis restrictions, Kyosho, 2wd/awd, can we use any available chassis on the market?

Thumbs up

Weather permitting, sounds great. Matt, i agree with Eugene. Probably should come up with a list of bodies for "HATCH" class and use only those bodies.

Should be able to set up a regional size track. Please let us know if you plan on attending so we know how many stock motors to order. EMU try to get Sai to come. Richie from Brooklyn Hobbies said that he will come and bring some of his crew. Landon is bringing his crew. I think that we will be able to get about 15 of our locals and 10 out of towners that would be a good amount for our first race.

Put me down for stock and mod. Thanks MK

Emu-The Rx-7, while it is kind of a hatchback I'm gonna have to say it isnt allowed. The gti is. The rules have been updated with chassis restictions. The narrow tire rule should make things interesting. It will make people tune a setup they are not used to dealing with.

Emu/Larry-I will work up a list of bodies that are allowed and add it to the first post.

Larry-I will do a search for hotels and try top find some good ones.

Berm-It would be great if you can make it. I think with us being in the middle of the miniz areas on the east coast should make for some good races and cut down on the ammount of travel time.

Mike-thanks for filling in what I left out.

Matt/Mike, thanks for info.
Put me down for all 3 classes. Depending on amount of people i may do 2. If its a large spread out event, then 3.

Pencil me in for all three classes.

I want to put a fast motor in my Hatch, but something tells me its a bad idea I can barely get the power down from a 70t in my RX-7 (which was a Mini-Cooper last week) with skinny rear tires, so im thinking that adding more motor would only hurt. That is something we will have to see in practice... I have a few bodies to test before the race. I know the Mini is pretty balanced with narrows all around, I will have to see about some of the others that I have. Have to look for my GTI now

I'll probably do stock and hatch classes, have NEVER used my Vitz and Focus could use a workout.
