That is HOT! Makes me wish I still had my Dnano collection.

Looking forward to seeing this one painted up. Could you take a pic of this next to it's bigger brother? That would be cool!

These are AVM Daytona wheels with hand made foams.

you should make a set of super wide wheels since AVM no longer exists....

Make them so we can use double fronts or front/rear combos on the rear for rubber or custom wide foams

I already made superwide wheels for the 917 and Countach, but I am experimenting with I-materialise since the Shapeways material definition is not fine enough for dNano wheels.
Here is my I-materialise gallery
http://i.materialise.com/designer/fovea3d
The parts turned out OK, the material is more fragile than Shapeways but should be OK at small scale.
Of course I plan to make all sort of wheel designs based on these hubs.

When I find some time

Have you thought about printing using 'White Detail'? It's not as brittle as ultra detail, but it should be strong enough for wheels while allowing higher resolution...

Nice Countach BTW... you could probably run rear tires on the front and a pair of rear tires and a pair of fronts on the rear

Yes I tried white detail, middle on this pic
Resolution is not so good (for this size of parts) but the I.Materialize Prime Grey is the best. The layering is not visible from normal distance, these are macro shots. With primer and paint it should be OK. The fitting is perfect with Prime Gray, while with the 2 other materials from Shapeways the screw hole needs to be drilled.

Well I only use foams for rear on dnanos, but a pair of front should be OK. On this pic I tried stock tires to see how it fits and if they will stay in place while driving. They do.
There are two ribs on these wheels (inner rib + outer rib that is part of the tire wall).

BTW... I was referring to the space left over when using the wider wheels in the rear with regular rubber tires... you can fill the space with a pair of thin fronts (FRA) along with the regular-width rears... just to make the tires wide enough to cover the rims

Understood.
I already did that (2 front tires for wide rear).
On the pic I only tested how the tires would stay in place if someone used simple stock tires.
Nice motor pod BTW

Awesome! Reminds me of one of them resin models though. I had once dreamed of using a 1/43 resin model of the Koenig Specials Competition, but was told the resin would be too fragile.
Anyway, look's great can't wait to see it finished, and look's awesome next to sis!

You should really consider making some wide wheels.... Even something that looks like the stock wheels but wider.... I would really like to see some 787 wheels
