atomic collective - singapore

greetings... just came back from singapore... and had a grand time
was lucky enough to visit atomic collective...

kinda busy at the moment... so will just be posting pics for the time being...
article to follow shortly...

12/29/12
with the very limited time i had, i was very fortunate enough to head off to atomic collective in singapore (which to my knowledge is the only track/shop in singapore)...

track info:
13 Transit Road‎ 778887
Singapore (Next to neesoon army camp)
+65 6456 5345
www.atomiccollective.net
atomiccollective@gmail.com
check them out on f******k too - atomic collective mini-z shop and indoor circuit

Wed thur fri 7-11pm
Sat sun 12 - 11 pm
Mon tue closed
sing $6 track fee
sing $10 car rental

i called in advance and spoke to fred and was told from the city, it is roughly a 20-30 taxi ride... weather reports indicated rain and I gambled against it, and kinda got caught in a torrential downpour (without an umbrella) which timed itself 10 minutes just before arriving...

luckily the cab let me off right in front of the shop... i experienced a short shower lasting just a few steps as i made a mad but short dash to the covered sidewalk... a few more steps and i was there… asked some guy at the pit tables outside where i could find frank and he pointed me towards the back…

kinda hard to believe that it was raining cats and dogs a few minutes earlier...

upon 5 min upon arrival the rain stopped... and i headed towards the back office which was where the shop was located...

met fred and introduced myself, was really nice chatting with him… fred mentioned that they just renovated the track and shop… they got a new set of rcp track tiles and put it to good use... i later found out that fred was one of the co-owners of atomic collective.

shop well stocked with parts...

autoscales...

er and more parts...

fred also mentioned that their first mr03ve shipment just came in from japan… "oh wow" was all i could muster in response.… he called in somebody who i recognized as the guy at the pit table who directed me to the back, and introduced him as dave (aka d1nzfe on these forums), one of singapore's top drivers… fred went on to mention that dave qualified in the modified a-main class of the recently concluded 2012 indonesia open mini-z championship, i later found out fred qualified in the same modified a-main class...

as dave came over he showed me something, he was holding his brand spanking new, already hopped up mr03ve… i was completely bowled over when he asked if i wanted to try it out… although it was hopped up i tried it with the stock kt18 tx which was cool since i am quite accustomed to it…

first impression was that it was really really smooth (steering & throttle) and really responsive... it was like power on demand and it had lots of torque... it was the same thing with steering, it almost felt that there was an instant response to steering input… almost probably to a fault, if you're not used to this (like me) i guess you can dial steering response down a bit on programmable radios...

on the track i couldn't reach full throttle, it's just too fast… and coming off throttle, the motor feels like there is no drag brake, it just coasts and the closest thing i can compare it to is the dnano… however i figure that you can program settings (throttle & steering) to your liking once you get it hooked up to your computer... hmm… i kinda forgot to test the reverse function… probably some other time…

i would definitely like to get one at some point… thing is pricing, i asked fred how much? and if i remember it right, he mentioned 256-260 singapore dollars which roughly translates to 203-211 us$ kinda seems pretty reasonable to me... and really hope this type of pricing sticks... however, i do hope that the prices drop... the cheaper the better...

the new mr03ve just arrived... and i was just lucky to be there when dave was out testing it on the track

singapore top driver - dave (aka d1nzfe on these forums) and his new mr03ve (already hopped up!) nothing but smiles

hmm... how'd the heck he do that? slowly and carefully i was told... so i do guess you can get it on an alu motormount...

dave opened up the chassis to expose the board… viola! 3 sh8m14 fets on top & 3 sh8m14 fets under... 6 total that's cool! wondering why kyosho didn't do this ages ago…

new fets... sh8m14 - anybody got some info on these? there are three on top, and three on the bottom total 6

after a while fred introduces me to another singapore top driver - alvin, who dropped by to pick up his mr03ve… nothing but all smiles in his picture as well…

fred told me that singapore racers are big reflex racing fans, as evidenced by one of the pictured cars (like man that car looks sweet)… and wished they could get more support (calling ct)

also found out that fred started the mini-z race challenge (http://mzrc.blogspot.com/p/sltc-rules.html?m=1) which is quite similar to hfay but with a larger track format…

and again, just like that time flew and i had to be going… had a real good time talking mini-z and running around the track… if you're in singapore and have some time to spare, do pass by, i'm pretty sure that you'll have a lot of fun... i surely did

with singapore top driver dave (l) and atomic collective shop / track owner fred (r)

with singapore top driver dave (l) and another singapore top driver alvin (r) misc. driver (also good...)

they're actually all good drivers in singapore...

It's your "lucky race suit", obviously. Very nice pics herman, did they happen to have any MRCG's in stock? I've got a guy who's been looking for one for nearly a year now, poor dude, but I do not know any shops who have any left.
