The building I work in used to be a bakery.
In the basement, there is a platform that they used to use to stage sacks of flour and stuff that would come in through the sidewalk elevator. The platform is around 40 feet long, and 12 feet wide. We believe it will make an excellent track, but we need to put something over the 2x6s that it's made from.
We're thinking of single-ply cardboard (white side up) with choroplast sides, to keep the cars fromm going off the edge.
But I wonder...what surfaces have others used?
I don't know why, but it seems to me that chalkboard paint might be good...
I tried a rubberized roofing paint. Sno-seal rubberized roofing primer. This is a black rubberized paint that cleans up with water before it dries. It is a really good traction track surface and is black. It is written as 1000% elastic on the can. The only problem with the primer is that is not UV resistant, so it woudn't last if it were in the sun. I think it was moster hobbies that is posted on this board that has a gray track. I think that this is the rubberized roofing top coat (sno-seal) but this paint is white. Apparently they had to mix tint into the paint to make it non white. The white paint is uv resistant and is listed as 500% ELASTIC. i THINK BOTH make a good track surface. It is somewhat expensive. About 30 dollars a gallon at home depot. One gallon would cover an 8 X 16 foot track though in two coats. If your are painting onto something very porous you might consider sealing it somehow first.
