After my knuckles broke I bought some GPM alloy knuckles along with a steering plate and steering assembly. The knuckles fit fine but the steering assembly was the biggest pain to put together because the spring flew onto the carpet and i was on the verge of tears looking for the damn thing. Anyway i finally find it put it together and also install the alloy steering plate. After putting it all back together the steering doesn't center properly. If i turn right and and let go of the steering wheel the wheels kinda go center but not all the way. Same with left.. It just seems to bind in some places and the action isn't fluid. I added a bit of grease but it doesn't help much. I didn't buy the alloy front gearbox yet... are the GPM steering parts made for the Alloy front gearbox? or can they be used in the stock plastic gearbox? Are GPM parts quality parts out the box or do they usually require a bit of grinding and refinishing? Should I bother getting the alloy front gearbox and just return the alloy plate and steering assm?
here is what i would do.... go back to stock servo saver. i know, it was a huge pain but i've never had any luck with teh alloy servo saver.
file down the openings in the sides of the gearbox to give the tie rod just a hair more room to slide thru. i've done this before and it helped with my overland
gpm is typically good quality however it seems parts from the last batch ordered have had some defects.
