yep, I have 8 of the 30.4 x 14... big and clunky ones... if I find a way to do it some what perfectly, I might machine/lathe/dremel the treads down... hehe.

Any pic of your work with the dremel? (so I don't have to f*** up all of my sons tires, about 30 of them laying everywhere )

I might do it, I have yet to get around to it, again they are not realy my Lego tires.. they belong to nephew who dont realy play with them when he comes over cuz I have the tires hidden hehe... All I realy did so far is cut the inner center line rim out, very sloppily, be carful doing this might cut through tire. And I cut one tread off, pain in the butt...
What I might do, not realy working on that now though, is cut razor off all the tread blocks, at least 90% of each one, then put it on some sorta rotary tool... and sand it off. Basicly I have no clue how I would do it ... but they would make nice slicks beign 14mm wide.. wider then the Kyosho Brand rims .
Might even be able to modify some rims, by cutting the center line in them.. so they make use of the rim inside the tire less likely to fall off . But I will not risk the rims doing it...

here's a pic of the truck wheels compared to some off-set wheels.

Here's the difference in ride height.
A rally conversion would give even more clearance.

Big'unz
Ken,
Those wheels look nice and rugged. Yup, the improvement in ride height is neat too. I reckon they'd be a great base for a custom Ford F-250, or something similar, perhaps a HUMVEE..
Another great attribute of those wheels is the fact they help keep the spur gear away from the road surface, ideal for those outdoor runs
I wonder how the extra height on the wheel profile will affect acceleration and top speed. Obviously, acceleration will decrease ever so slightly, but the top-speed will improve.
Good catch there Ken, those wheels are nice indeed. Or as Ken once quoted on my (oh no, not another one!) CLK's wheels: Those rims indeed look spiffy badd ol' chapp

Thanks Mondo,
I'm running a 6t on an X-Speed. Acceleration is still good.
The 'motor revolutions to distance' ratio is really close to using stock wheels with an 8t. I've been using the '56 ford pickup.
What I need now is wide foams for those other rims I widened.

I know that this thread is old and all, but I have dug up some of these wheels that I am thinking of working over for my Overland. I been trying to work out a simple jig to work out the centers for the bearings/bushings. I will do the notch cuts second to mate to the rears.

Yeah, I did it on a drill press. An end mill would've been ideal.
In retrospect, it would have been easier to keep everything centered by drilling the jig and then not move it. Recentering it was a pain.
Geez. This is an old thread.

I about give up on the drilling part as it is hard to get the inside and outside bearings to line up. I was hogging it out with a grinder bit by hand with my dremel.
Good thing I have an extra set of S2000 wheels, this is what I am doing with it. Grafting the s2000 wheel centers onto the lego wheels with the centers cut out. I may post some pictures later, in a new thread. The practical upshot here is I can adjust the offset before I glue it
