official kyosho awd product description

finally in english.... hmm hope somebody didn't post this just yet...

more from:
http://www.kyosho.co.jp/web/product...iniz_awd-e.html

AWD plus 4-wheel independent suspension marks a new chapter in Mini-Z history!

If there is a real AWD vehicle out there, you can expect it to appear as a Mini-Z AWD. Of course, the Mini-Z AWD (All Wheel Drive) chassis maintains its high performance and sophisticated technology, as well as the incredible attention to detail. The Mini-Z also manages to achieve its shaft-driven AWD system in its minimal size with a precision king-pin strut system 4-wheel independent suspension. In addition, the high efficiency drive system features a specially shaped crown gear and pinion gear in the newly designed diff gear unit. The result is a level of resistance through the drive train about the same as existing 2WD versions to produce true racing machine performance. And the focus on weight throughout means the AWD is not much heavier than the 2WD version. However, the AWD features a high-power speed control amp with 30% more capacity than the existing 2WD chassis to bring out the best performance from the new chassis. You won't believe that so much power and performance can come from a machine so small! And the level of detail is as high as ever with a variety of body styles that match the 65mm minimum width of the chassis beautifully. The design also allows increased freedom in setting adjustments such as toe angles with optional parts. If your hungry for the excitement of high performance racing technology, the new "AWD chassis" puts you right at the front of the starting grid in the world of micro racing!

Chassis design allows minimum width of 65mm so most body styles for MR-01 and MR-015 chassis can be used.
Wheelbase can be easily adjusted to the Mini-Z Racer M and L sizes so you can use those exquisite Mini-Z bodies you already own. (Some body shapes are not able to be used).

Regarding body fitting, the Mini-Z AWD shares the same dimensions as the MR-015. Therefore, the bodies that fit the MR-01 and MR-015 and their M and L-sized wheelbases can be used on the AWD.
The Mini-Z AWD uses specially designed wheels. These cannot be interchanged with the Mini-Z Racer wheels. Please choose from the wheels included in the AWD chassis set.
The wheels currently available with Auto Scale Collection are not suitable for the Mini-Z AWD. Please choose from the wheels included in the AWD chassis set.
The wiring on the motor used in the Mini-Z AWD is different to motors used in the current Mini-Z Racer Series up until now. Please use the AWD motor set.

I thought that there are just two wheelbase settings M 90mm or L 94mm? And it also look's like the readyset don't have the bearings or extra wheels the chassis set has, right?

good points... lets all hope that the missing items have just been lost in translation...

i think wheelbase is m 90 and l 94... since most of the autoscale bodies came in those settings... but in spite this, they did mention that not all bodies will be able to fit the awd chassis... i did see in a picture that there was a vitz body on the chassis, alongside the evo f2f chassis...

the suspense is killing me... aurgh!!!!

It sounds like three wheel base settings. The spur gear is part of the transformation, weird.

Good catch on the picture. I was just going by the contents description. It'll be nice to see(own) one in person.

King pins = sophisticated technology? I don't think so, and no matter what they do it isn't going to be precision for more than a lap or two. AWD is cool, but this suspension is a big disappointment, I'd rather have an H plate suspension that this crap.

Kingpins and springs were always a disappointment to me with the mini-Zs in general... never smooth enough out of the box to actually work.... and now they are on all four corners.... bleh... I prefer A-arms

Yes they are, but the movement of the suspension for a racer at this scale is so minute, especially for those that lower the chassis. Although also minute, king pins keep the unsprung weight down. Functionally it makes sense but A-arms are definitely more sexy and any body that has raced a Mini-X knows that it works well. We'll just have wait and see.

from the site...

* 4 different sizes of offset wheels included -total of 10 wheels (0 offset: 4 wheels, +1.5, +2.5 & +3.5mm : 2 each). In addition, two offset sizes of 11mm wheels (offset 0 & +1mm X 2 wheels each) are included (in the chassis set).

0 offset - 4
+1.5 mm - 2
+2.5 mm - 2
+3.5 mm - 2

0 offset - 2 (11mm - wide wheels)
+1mm - 2 (11mm - wide wheels)

hmmm i count 14 wheels??? lost in translation again???
or 10 wheels in the rtr, 14 wheels in the chassis set???

but nevertheless... a bunch of wheels with different offsets... mean you can put on a variety of bodies on the chassis... i've seen some awd pics with wide rears... and a vitz on the awd chassis...

These come with the sets or are options? I read options earlier but it seems like your saying in the set? Would make sense to be in the set.
