nascar racing is boring, bunch of left turns.
I want to paint the Skyline body that came with my mini-z and I want to paint a model body that I will "make fit" my mini-z chassis. I was planning to use a spray paint to cover the entire body and then brush on details. I imagine Testors has a spray paint, I've used Testors brush paint before. Thanks for the help, I just don't want to make a mistake and waste my only Z body.
I trashed a lovely '66 Mustang GT body using an enamel based aerosol.
The drying process with enamels takes too long.
Now I use acrylic automotive paint, I buy it at the local auto-parts shop. Most metallic paints require a clearcoat, but I'd recommend that anyway.
The bonus of using these paints is, that they are made for minor car repairs, so you get factory colours.
That counts when trying to make the body as authentic as possible.
The Tamiya paints work well too, although a clearcoat should also be applied.
personally i hate testors with a passion, and will only use it if im in a bind and the lhs isnt open when i decide i feel like painting ( 3:30 in the morning) but if i plan ahead i use tamiya. Im sure you already know this, but try filling up a sink with fairly warm water, about the temp you would wash dishes in, then let the can sit in there for about 10 min before shaking it, this will make mixing it much easier and you shouldnt get uneven spray. I let it sit for about 15 to 20 when i use testors, just to make sure that its good and warm. After that i use two coats of clear coat, one before i put on the decals and one after. the first seems a bit pointless maybe, but i always have problems with the decals and end up with the body in my hand for awhile, so i put on the clear coat just incase i do something stupid to it.
